About Me

Originally from Michigan, Dr. Schochet came to Florida 11 years ago for his Colon and Rectal surgery fellowship under Dr. Steve Wexner at Cleveland Clinic Florida where he received a coveted fellowship covering the breadth of colorectal surgery with specific focus of minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy and endoscopy. Although double board certified in general and colorectal surgery, Dr. Schochet’s main clinical focus has been on the treatment of HIV and LGBTQ related anorectal disease. Dr. Schochet has developed the only anal dysplasia clinic of its kind in Florida utilizing the anal pap smear and High Resolution Anoscopy (anal colposcopy) in order to identify and treat potentially precancerous intra-anal or perianal lesions.

Dr. Schochet is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He is the Founder and Captain of the “Happy Hineys” Florida AIDS Walk Team and has raised almost $300,000 for local HIV / AIDS organizations since 2014 and is also a founding board member of the World AIDS Museum in Wilton Manors, Florida.

Dr. Schochet currently has privileges at Holy Cross Hospital and Holy Cross Healthplex in Broward as well as Aventura Hospital and Surgery Center of Aventura in Miami-Dade County.
